How Did The Initiative Begin?
After the passing of Fabrizio Meoni, in 2007 Cyril Després visited the school supported by the Meoni Foundation in Dakar. On this visit, Després was also introduced to another small school run by a good man named Lamine in the Pikine neighbourhood.
There, classes were held in a small hut with very limited resources. In 2008, inspired by his good friend Fabrizio, Després decided to support Lamine through his own project by funding the construction of the school currently operating today. The Fabrizio and Cyril School was inaugurated January 21, 2008.
Since then, the school has relied on his support and involvement to continue operating and providing many children the opportunity to attend school in this Senegalese neighbourhood.
For Cyril, this project is a means by which to give thanks and give back to Dakar for everything that it has given him both personally and professionally.
